RACE 1 – MAJOR ENVY – BATHURST JUVENILE OF THE YEAR PACE – 1730 metres
LAYLA SHANNON – Sustained a flat tyre inside the final 100 metres.
SHES SOME LEXY – Inconvenienced when held up for clear racing room between the 300 metres and 200 meters.
ABSOLUTE WEAPON – Held up for clear racing room over the final 50 metres.
BARRY LIMBO – Trainer/driver P Betts was queried on the perceived improved performance of the gelding. Miss Betts stated the gelding’s form throughout its career has shown to be inconsistent. After finding the lead in tonight’s event where he races best and travelled comfortably finishing the race off when placed under pressure over the final 300 metres. Her comments were noted but Miss Betts was advised it would be expected the gelding to race in a consistent manner in future. Post-race swab.
UNCLE SPORTY – Trainer/driver A Frisby was queried on the overall performance of the gelding. He could give reasonable explanation as the gelding had an easy run throughout until failing to respond as expected over the concluding stages.
CERISE RAINBOW – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.
LOVE WATCH – Fractious in the score up, then refused the score up causing a false start. Connections were advised the gelding would be placed right outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.
KNOW THE SCORE – Pre-race blood. Hung in under pressure when entering the home straight on the final occasion.
RACE 2 – JETT TURNBULL – BATHURST JUNIOR OF THE YEAR PACE – 1730 metres
GABBYS SPORTSTAR – A pre and post-race veterinary examination were conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
MITCHELLS RUN – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.
TISBURY ROCKS NZ – Post-race swab.
POTTER – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
HARPERVILLE – Pre-race blood.
RACE 3 – JETT TURNBULL – BATHURST DRIVER OF THE YEAR PAC E- 2260 metres
TAMANISHA TERROR – Post-race swab.
MISTERFOURTHOUSAND – Driver A Turnbull stated when leading the event, the gelding had a tendency to over race resulting in the tempo of the race being faster than anticipated contributing in the gelding failing to run on over the concluding stages.
STUDLEIGH MELISE – Driver O Frisby was cautioned on her whip use shortly after the start and also when entering the home straight on the final occasion.
EXCESS VITALITY – Pre-race blood.
RACE 4 – ULTRA AIR HONDO GRATTAN SPRINT – 1730 metres
WHILEMENA RITA – Declared a late scratching at 2.41pm on vets advice.
MERAKI – When negotiating the first turn was tightened for racing room and was checked and broke as a result of MAN MOUNTIN shifting down the track when insufficiently clear.
WORKS FOR ME NZ – Pre-race blood.
MAN MOUNTAIN – Driver W Judd pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when entering the first turn has shifted his runner down to the marker line when insufficiently clear of MERAKI and as a result that runner was tightened and broke stride. When considering penalty Stewards considered Mr Judd’s guilty plea, his record in relation to this rule and the amount of drives he has had over the past 12 months resulting in his license to drive in races be suspended for a period of 21 days. This suspension is to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 26 March 2025.
IM DESIRABLE – Inconvenienced when shifting wider on the first turn to avoid MERAKI who had broke stride.
STILL ROLLIN NZ – Trainer K McDeed was fined $50 under rule 268A(1) for failing to submit a gear form prior to racing. Inconvenienced negotiating the first turn when shifting wider to avoid MERAKI who had broke stride. Post-race swab.
WATCHMEDAZZLE – Inconvenienced negotiating the first turn when shifting wider to avoid MERAKI who had broke stride.
RACE 5 – PFD FOODS SMOOTH SATIN PACING CUP – 2260 metres
TERRYRAMA – Checked at the 1650 metres as a result of ROCKU breaking stride when leading the event.
DRIVE TO THE BEACH – Checked at the 1650 metres as a result of ROCKU breaking stride when leading the event.
OUR GOAT – Checked and raced roughly at the 1650 metres when trailing ROCKU who had broke stride.
SAINT EMILION – Checked at the 1650 metres as a result of ROCKU breaking stride when leading the event.
ROCKU – Approaching the 1650 metres when working forward to the lead became unbalanced and broke stride resulting in all the runners trailing being checked or inconvenienced to various degrees. A warning was placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
HE AINT FAKIN – Inconvenience at the 1650 metres when ROCKU had broke stride.
MIGHTY FLYING ART NZ – Pre-race blood. Checked at the 1650 metres when ROCKU had broke down resulting in the gelding racing three wide until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1300 metres.
CASSIUS DECK – Checked at the 1650 metres as a result of ROCKU breaking stride when leading the event. Post-race swab.
SMOOTH BUZZ – Inconvenienced at the 1650 metre as a result of ROCKU breaking stride.
HES CHIMING – Inconvenienced at the 1650 metre as a result of ROCKU breaking stride.
RACE 6 – MAMMALS ALIBI – BATHURST HORSE OF THE YEAR PACE – 1730 metres
VALENTINI – A pre-race veterinary examination was conducted due to a incident in the tie up stalls. The mare was cleared to start.
BROOKLYN BANDIT – Pre-race blood. Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.
ALLEGRETTO – Driver P Betts was cautioned on her whip use in the home straight on the final occasion. Post-race swab.
CALL ME MILLIE – Driver N Hurst was cautioned on his whip use leaving the back straight on the final occasion.
RACE 7 – STEVE TURNBULL – BATHURST TRAINER OF THE YEAR PACE – 1730 metres
GRACE SHANNON – Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up causing a false start. A warning was issued. Post-race swab.
AURORA JENNY – Pre-race blood. Between the 300 and 200 metres had a tendency to hang in and contacted marker pegs. The filly will be given its last chance to race truly.
SHIFTY FRISBY – A pre-race veterinary examination was conducted due to an incident in the tie up stalls. The gelding was cleared to start.
RIVIERE – A pre and post-race veterinary examination were conducted as the mare has not started since 26 June 2023. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
RACE 8 – GOLD CROWN FINALS NIGHT 29TH MARCH 5PM TILL LATE PACE – 1730 metres
PHANTOM STAR – Driver T Bullock was queried on the performance of the gelding. He stated throughout the event the gelding proved difficult to drive as a result of him hanging out throughout the event. He further advised that trainer R Reynolds would consider making gear changes in future starts.
BELLAGANOOSH – Driver M Turnbull was queried on the tactics adopted between the 350 metres and the 100 metres where he appeared to be held up for clear racing room until the 100 metres. He stated when trailing ROCKNROLL STAR NZ who was leading the event it was his intention to wait behind that runner until the sprint lane became available at the 250 metres, when leaving the 300 metres ROCKNROLL STAR NZ began to tire with runners to its outside improving so he elected to shift wider in an attempt to obtain clear running but was unable to do so until the final 100 metres. Stewards noted his comments as the tactics adopted not to be unreasonable in the circumstances.
LUCKY ZARA – Pre-race blood.
BARBARADAWNSHANNON – Broke stride leaving the 250 metres. A warning was issued.
ROSE OF JULIANA – Driver A Clancy was fined the sum of $200 under rule 156(2)(a) in that when applying the whip in the home straight on the final occasion has done so with a free hand. Post-race swab.
