Prior to the all-clear, Driver T Osmond (SIX AGAIN) advised stewards she wished to view the race day footage over the final 200 metres to ascertain the reason her runner went off stride. After viewing the race day footage Driver T Osmond of SIX AGAIN 8th past the post lodged an objection against 2nd place THE TALK (M Hawke) alleging interference on entering the home straight on the final occasion. After taking evidence from Drivers T Osmond and M Hawke and viewing the available race day footage, Stewards acknowledged that SIX AGAIN when being shifted wider wheel to wheel by THE TALK and became unbalanced and broke stride and considering the way both runners were travelling at the time of the incident and the margin of 45 metres between both runners at the finish, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had this incident not occurred that SIX AGAIN would have finished in advance of THE TALK and as a result the protest was dismissed and all clear given on the judges numbers of 2 – 1/3DH – 7.
THE TALK – Driver M Hawke pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that leaving the 200 metres has shifted her runner wider and as a result SIX AGAIN has become unbalanced and broke stride. In considering penalty, Stewards were mindful of Miss Hawke’s guilty plea and also her record in relation to this rule which is that she has only received only one suspension in the previous 8 years, resulting in her licence to drive in races being suspended for a period of 7 days. This suspension is to commence midnight Sunday 6 April 2025. Withstood protest from 8th placing SIX AGAIN.

UNCLE JAY - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding is 13 years of age. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

Mr Ross was questioned on the gelding’s overall performance where it raced roughly throughout the event and failed to run on over the concluding stages. Mr Ross stated the gelding failed to handle the track throughout the event racing roughly and proving difficult to drive out. He further added he would advise Trainer B Hewitt if the gelding was to race on the smaller half mile tracks, some gear adjustments may be required. CHARGING BULL – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
RACE 7 – HOMESTEAD PRESS PACE – 1770 metres
ITSOKAYNOTTOBEOKAY – Driver J Turnbull was queried on the perceived improved performance of the gelding. Mr Turnbull stated it was the first run for the stable and the gelding has worked exceptionally well leading into the event, and he was expecting a forward showing. Post-race swab sample.
