OUR SAILOR – Approaching the 100 metres was inconvenienced when SCARLET BLING shifted wider when insufficiently clear.
FLIRTS DIVA – Pre-race blood.
CANDI – Driver T Pay was questioned on the tactics adopted on the mare which was caught racing three wide and unable to find a position in the running line and as a result raced wide for the entire event until giving ground over the final 500 metres to finish in ninth and last position beaten 27 metres. He stated the instructions were to go forward from the start to either lead or race outside the leader. When beginning moderately he elected to work forward to attempt to race outside the leader, despite his urging the mare was unable to muster the necessary speed to cross OUR SAILOR. Leaving the 1100 metres he was unable to obtain cover and believed at that stage it to be detrimental to his chances to restrain and continued to race three wide until gradually giving ground from the 500 metres. After considering Mr Pay`s evidence and reviewing the race footage Stewards believe he had erred by not looking to obtain a position in the running line at the 1600 metres where the tempo was reasonably fast in the early stages, also the possibility to drive with more urgency to obtain the position outside the leader. Considering Mr Pay`s inexperience he was issued a reprimand under rule 149)(2)

Ms Rusten stated the mare didn`t settle as she wanted after finding the lead and was also mindful if the mare is restrained too much, she has had a tendency to race fiercely.
