RACE 1 – DONGES IGA PACE – 1720 metres
BLACK ART NZ – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having obtained the age of 12 years. These examinations did not reveal any significant findings. Out of position during the majority of the score up despite the efforts of its driver. A warning was issued.
LEAD ROLE – Momentarily tightened passing the 1300 metres when WESTERN BILL shifted out.
MATTERSON EXPRESS – Contacted and dislodged a marker peg passing the 1000 metres.
WESTERN BILL – Driver Mark Hewitt was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that passing the 1300 metres he permitted WESTERN BILL to shift out resulting in LEAD ROLE being tightened momentarily.
JUSTADIVA – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
PADDY MACH – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in more than 200 races and having attained the age of 12 years. These examinations did not reveal any significant findings.
LESSISMORE – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 2 – NIC DEWAR MEMORIAL HEAT 1 – 2100 metres
FRESH PRINCE – Pre-race blood sample. Over raced during the middle stages.
AVA LEANNE – Broke during the score up on the first attempt and was unable to fulfill its position resulting in a false start being declared. A warning was placed on the record of AVA LEANNE. Driver Taylah Osmond was questioned regarding the performance of the filly which finished in 3rd placing beaten 10 metres ($1.50 fav). Ms Osmond explained that AVA LEANNE over raced as a consequence of the false start on the first occasion, which worsened when the filly contacted the sulky with its hind legs on various occasions which ultimately told on AVA LEANNE over the concluding stages.
MARIANNA BROMAC NZ – Over raced during the middle stages.
REASON TO PARTY – Declared a late scratching at 11.51am by order of Stewards when declared Driver George Chamouras was unable to fulfill his engagement and no other eligible driver was available. Mr Chamouras was advised a medical clearance would be required prior to him driving in races again.
FULL OF SPICE – Post-race swab sample.
SATIN BANYULA – Over raced during the middle stages.
MAJOR HUSS – Checked passing the 400 metres when held up behind SEVEN TEE TWO which commenced to give ground. Driver Casey Leijen was spoken to advisedly regarding her whip use in the early part of the straight. In not taking more severe action against Ms Leijen, Stewards were mindful this was her 11th race drive and only her second drive this season.
RACE 3 – HILLTOPS EQUINE CENTRE PACE – 1720 metres
INGERMARLA – Pre-race warm up.
MIDNIGHT TERROR – Tightened passing the 1600 metres when I LIKA STYLE shifted in. it was noted MIDNIGHT TERROR sustained a flat tyre passing the 500 metres.
GLEMELLY BEACH – Over raced during the middle stages when leading.
HILLVIEW SAM – Post-race swab sample.
I LIKA STYLE – Driver Jon Ponsonby pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 500 metres he permitted I LIKA STYLE to shift out when not clear of MOVINTOHELLANDBACK resulting in contact to MOVINTOHELLANDBACK and that mare being severely checked and pacing roughly. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the HRNSW Penalty Guidelines, placing particular weight on Mr Ponsonby’s guilty plea, the circumstances of the incident and his recent offence record. Stewards accordingly imposed a 21 day suspension of his licence to drive in races which is ordered to commence immediately. Driver Jon Ponsonby was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that passing the 1500 metres he permitted I LIKA STYLE to shift in tightening ECLIPSE LINE which was inconvenienced and broke gait a short distance later. In not taking more severe action against Mr Ponsonby, Stewards were mindful the racing manners of ECLIPSE LINE contributed when that gelding hung out simultaneous to I LIKA STYLE shifting in. Mr Ponsonby was issued a further reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 1600 metres he permitted I LIKA STYLE to shift in and momentarily tighten MIDNIGHT TERROR.
MOVINTOHELLANDBACK – Severely checked and paced roughly passing the 500 metres when I LIKA STYLE shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination of MOVINTOHELLANDBACK failed to reveal any significant findings.
ECLIPSE LINE – Pre-race blood sample. Inconvenienced and broke gait passing the 1500 metres when ECLIPSE LINE hung out simultaneous to I LIKA STYLE shifting in. Jett Turnbull, driver of ECLIPSE LINE, explained the gelding hung out and lost ground passing the 600 metres and commenced to race more genuinely passing the 400 metres and he was satisfied with the performance of ECLIPSE LINE thereafter.
BARKWAY ARIAN – Checked passing the 1500 metres as a result of ECLIPSE LINE breaking gait.
RACE 4 – SOUTHWEST TRACTORS PACE – 2100 metres
AROMET GIRL – Galloped out as the start was effected checking CARLO GAMBINO which was drawn behind. A warning was placed on the record of AROMET GIRL. Checked passing the 400 metres when held up behind KADAR which commenced to give ground.
FREDEE TEE – Broke shortly after the start and a warning was issued. Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 95 metres. Given the performance and the beaten margin, FREDEE TEE will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards.
SIX AGAIN – Post-race swab sample.
MORE GOODA NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Jackson Painting, Trainer/Driver of MORE GOODA NZ, was questioned regarding the performance of the mare which finished in 4th place beaten 24 metres ($6.50). Mr Painting explained that he was satisfied with the performance of MORE GOODA NZ considering MORE GOODA NZ was first up since July 2024 and the constant speed which was recorded throughout.
CARLO GAMBINO NZ – Checked shortly after the start as a consequence of AROMET GIRL breaking gait.
RACE 5 – THE TAB APP WARATAH HEAT – 1720 metres
KEILOR BABY SHARK – Held up rounding the home turn and the early part of the straight.
BUSHY BEACH NZ – Post-race swab sample. Driver Jett Turnbull was reprimanded under Rule 170(2) for allowing his body to protrude outside the rear sulky confines inside the final 150 metres.
LEAVEMEOUT – Pre-race blood sample. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Jostled with CAPTAIN OF SPEED passing the 150 metres.
CAPTAIN OF SPEED – Jostled with LEAVEMEOUT passing the 150 metres.
RACE 6 – YOUNG SERVICES CLUB PACE – 1720 metres
SERGEANT PEE JAY – Hung in shortly after the start. Held up inside the final 100 metres.
MILLYANO – Pre-race blood sample. Paced roughly immediately after the start before being checked shortly after and breaking gait as a consequence.
A TRUE LOVE – Post-race swab sample. Driver Trent Rue pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 165(1)(b) in that approaching the 1600 metres he permitted A TRUE LOVE to shift in when not 1 metre clear of the extended front legs of MILLYANO resulting in MILLYANO being checked and breaking gait. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the HRNSW Penalty Guidelines placing particular weight on Mr Rue’s guilty plea and his offence record which displayed no prior offences under this rule and it being 5 years since his most recent interference related suspension. Stewards were further mindful of the racing manners of MILLYANO and accordingly imposed a 10 day suspension of Mr Rue’s licence to drive in races which was ordered to commence immediately.
TINNYSMEDAD – Severely checked shortly after the start as a result of MILLYANO being checked and breaking gait.
ULTIMATE COOKIE – Checked after the start as a consequence of MILLYANO being checked and breaking gait.
ONE STUNNIN MELODY – Inconvenienced after the start as a consequence of MILLYANO being checked and breaking gait.
LUCKY IN AMERICA – Pre-race blood sample. Inconvenienced after the start as a consequence of MILLYANO being checked and breaking gait. Hung in at various stages, most notably passing the 800 metres and LUCKY IN AMERICA lost ground as a consequence.
RACE 7 – RIVERINA STOCKFEEDS LOCAL PACE – 2100 metres
NIXSUN – Trainer Michael Day Jnr was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding. Mr Day explained Driver Nathan Hoy had reported post-race the gelding over racing during the early stages combined with being caught outside the leader over the longer distance of 2100 metres told on NIXSUN over the concluding stages.
ALWAYSATTHEBEACH – Inconvenienced approaching the 1200 metres when ROLL TO THE TOP hung out and shifted in shortly after.
THANKS BE TO GOD – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
ROLL TO THE TOP – Hung out approaching the 1200 metres and shifted in shortly after inconveniencing ALWAYSATTHEBEACH. Driver Michael Day Jnr was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using the whip with more than a wrist only flicking action inside the final 200 metres.
RACE 8 – HARNESS BREEDERS NSW LADYSHIP PACE – 1720 metres
FOURONEONE – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
TIME TO TORQUE – Driver Jye Coney was questioned regarding the performance of the mare which appeared to race roughly throughout. Mr Coney explained TIME TO TORQUE failed to handle the track at any stage, most notably passing the 800 metres when TIME TO TORQUE paced roughly and lost ground as a consequence. Mr Coney explained he endeavoured to pursue inside runs as he felt TIME TO TORQUE may pace more fluently when positioned on the marker pegs which occurred. Mr Coney further explained he would make recommendations to Trainer Nathan Turnbull to limit the mares racing to tracks of a greater circumference than Young.
