SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT – GOULBURN 31st March 2025

RACE 1 – HOLLINGWORTH CRANE HIRE SERVICE TROTTERS MOBILE – 1710 metres

LOVERS LANE – HRNSW Stewards finalised an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Trainer Mr Bruce Fox presenting the incorrect horse to race resulting in LOVERS LANE being declared a late scratching in the abovementioned race. After considering the available evidence, Stewards established Mr Fox inadvertently presented the horse HEIS HEARTTHROB when LOVERS LANE had been nominated to compete.

Upon further investigation it was confirmed Mr Fox also presented HEIS HEARTTHROB to trial at Menangle on the 19th of March 2025 and also the 26th of March 2025 when LOVERS LANE had been nominated to compete.

Mr Fox pleaded guilty to three charges under Rule 45(5) which states  “A person shall ensure that the correct horse is presented to start in a race.”

The particulars of the charges were:

Charge 1 – Mr Fox did present the incorrect horse to race at the Goulburn Harness racing club meeting on Monday the 31st of March 2025

Charge 2 - Mr Fox did present the incorrect horse to trial at the Menangle Harness racing club trials on Wednesday the 19th of March 2025

Charge 3 - Mr Fox did present the incorrect horse to trial at the Menangle Harness racing club trials on Wednesday the 26th of March 2025

Mr Fox was fined $1000. In assessing penalty, Stewards considered Mr Fox’ plea, his forthright evidence, the circumstances of the incident noting this was an unintentional error and his good record in relation to this rule. Stewards further ordered the disqualification of LOVERS LANE from the Menangle Trials on the 19th and the 26th of March 2025 acting under the provisions of AHRR 258.
