RACE 1 – MEDLYNS CASTROL PACE – 1660 metres
HOPPALONGPOG – Pre-race blood sample. Raced roughly leaving the 400 metres. Stewards questioned Trainer/Driver M Rue in relation to the performance of the gelding ($1.45 fav) when failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 20.4 metres and finished in 6th position. Mr Rue explained that he was surprised by the gelding’s starting price and noted the gelding didn’t handle the track in tonight’s event. Mr Rue explained that the gelding performed up to his expectations at this point in its preparation. Stewards noted his comments.
TEESWIFT – Raced roughly rounding the first turn.
SANDERS – Stewards questioned Trainer/Driver J Gaffney in relation to the performance of the gelding when failing to run on from the 600 metres to be beaten 70.1 metres and finished in 8th position. Mr Gaffney explained that rounding the first turn he was looking to find a position behind TEESWIFT however noted at that stage THEYCALLMEBRUCE was looking for cover so he elected to improve to try and find the position outside the leader however as he approached the 1200 metres it became apparent the position outside the leader was not going to be available and as a result he was required to restrain to the tail of the field passing the 1000 metres. Mr Gaffney added when settling at the rear of the field the gelding failed to travel from that point and he was disappointed in the gelding’s overall performance. In view of the performance of SANDERS, the gelding was issued its last chance to race truly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
JAYMACK – Became unbalanced and galloped shortly after entering the first turn. In view of the gelding’s recent record JAYMACK was stood down until it completes two requalifying trials and for a period of 14 days. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
NOSAER – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 2 – FORBES HRC PALMER HEAT 1 – 2040 metres
SCARLET BLING – Over raced throughout the middle stages of the event. Stewards questioned Trainer/Driver J Dean in relation to his tactics from the 300 metres when it appeared he attempted to shift SCARLET BLING from the marker pegs to the running line at this stage before returning to his position back down on the marker pegs. Mr Dean explained that leaving the 300 metres SCARLET BLING had a tendency to hang out and he was concerned he had not cleared the legs of FOUR STAR LINCOLN racing to his outside and as a result elected to shift SCARLET BLING back down to the marker pegs. Mr Dean explained after reviewing the vision he noted he was clear of the legs of FOUR STAR LINCOLN at that stage and could have maintained his position in the running line however Stewards further noted that it was only approximately 40 metres later when SCARLET BLING was shifted wider again at that stage and was able to obtain clear running passing the 100 metres and therefore took the matter no further.
DEVILS BLING – Galloped out at the start for which a warning was issued. Driver C Griffiths was issued a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that passing the 1300 metres he allowed DEVILS BLING to improve onto the back of FOUR STAR LINCOLN and as a result was checked and galloped for a short distance. In not taking more severe action against Driver C Griffiths, Stewards considered that at this point the gelding was over racing and had noted the reduction of pace in the running line which contributed to this incident.
TULHURST ELVIS – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1800 metres.
OLIVIA SHANNON – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1800 metres. Post-race swab sample.
ROLL TO THE TOP – Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight and was not fully tested.

RACE 3 – PARKES HRC PALMER HEAT 2 – 2040 metres
MAYWYNS LA NINA – Stewards questioned Trainer/Driver M Day Jnr in relation to the performance ($6) of the mare when failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 25.1 metres and finished in 9th position. Mr Day explained that after obtaining the lead he was unable to get any respite when challenged by A LIL BIT OF LOVE during the early stages and noted a further short challenge approaching the 1600 metres when POTTER improved to that runner’s outside. Stewards noted his comments.
JASPERSTIMETOSHINE – Raced roughly during the score up for which a warning was issued. Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight when being hampered by the weakening MAYWYNS LA NINA.
A LIL BIT OF LOVE – Post-race swab sample.
PENN STATION – Raced roughly and was shifted out into a three wide position passing the 1400 metres when the gelding dropped the bit. Driver N Hurst explained he placed the gelding under some pressure before being able to regain a position at the rear of the field, however commenced to weaken significantly from the 600 metres to be 79.7 metres and finished in last position. In view of the gelding’s racing manners, PENN STATION was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
POTTER – Pre-race blood sample. Raced three wide in the early and middle stages until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1600 metres. Driver J Turnbull was issued a reprimand under Rule 162(1)(www)(ii) in that in the home straight he has made insufficient effort to prevent POTTER from shifting up the track and as a result has hampered A LIL BIT OF LOVE which was improving to its outside.

RUSTY DANCER – Stewards questioned Driver J Turnbull in relation to the performance of the mare ($3.10 fav) when failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 28.4 metres and finishing in 8th position. Mr Turnbull explained the mare was not suited when racing in the position outside the leader and noted the early fast tempo did not suit the mare and therefore he was not overly disappointed in the performance of the mare considering the run afforded. Stewards noted his comments.
ERMINNIE QUINCE – Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 1500 metres and again passing the 600 metres for which the mare was stood down for two trials and a period of 14 days. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
