SOUNDS TREACHEROUS – Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.
SOCIAL STATUS – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.
RACE 2 – SOUTHWEST STOCKFEEDS 2YO PACE – 1740 metres
EMERGING DEAL – Pre-race swab sampled. Inconvenienced near the 100 metres when ROCK WITH THE BEST hung-out, and held up for clear running as a result over the concluding stages.
STAY LUCKY – Raced in restricted room leaving the 100 metres when EMERGING DEAL was inconvenienced.
ROCK WITH THE BEST – Raced greenly and hang-out at various stages throughout the event, hung-out under pressure in the home straight, connections were advised the gelding would be placed on its last chance to race truly.
MISTER SEASIDE – Fractious at the beginning of the score-up resulting in its sulky shaft becoming stuck over its rump and the score-up was aborted, connections were advised that it would continue to be placed outside the draw in mobile start races. Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 3 – STEEL SUPPLIES PACE – 1740 metres
EXCLUSIVE HUSTLER – Post-race swab sampled.
LOUIS THE LEGEND – Raced ungenerously during the early stages of the event when being restrained after being caught racing three wide from the start. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.
SHADES OF MIKI – Pre-race swab sampled.
RACE 4 – SUCCESS STUD PACE – 1740 metres
CARIBBEAN PRIDE – Pre-race swab sampled.
WAMBOYNEINAMERICA – Trainer R Arentz was queried regarding the seemingly improved performance of the gelding, he stated that he was confident of a forward showing today from the draw if it could lead as it races best in his opinion when able to lead. He added he felt it was down in grade from its most recent starts and was therefore reasonably confident of leading today’s field. He further added that he wasn’t disappointed with its previous start given the sectional times it ran when facing the breeze outside the leader, and it had trialled well at Coolamon when it led that trial prior to that race. Post-race swab sampled.
BURTON – Declared a late scratching at 10.14am by order of Stewards.
RACE 5 – YIRRIBEE STUD PACE – 1740 metres
THE TEXAS RANGER – Raced roughly near the 600 metres and under pressure over the concluding stages, connections were advised the gelding would be placed on its last chance to race truly.
MARIANNA BROMAC NZ – Post-race swab sampled.
VILLAGE AREA – Broke gait during the score-up and was out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued.
DANCE BABY DANCE – Pre-race swab sampled.
RACE 6 – TASCO PETROLEUM PACE – 1740 metres
WATERMAIN LADY – Pre-race swab sampled. Hung-in near the 800 metres, near the 600 metres and rounding the home turn. Hung-in under pressure in the home straight. Driver B Jones was questioned regarding the performance; he stated that she has been inclined to hang-in at her previous starts and has been working on her to try and alleviate the issue but today she was worse than she had been. He added at her most recent start he was able to obtain a position on the marker pegs, and she seems to race better when gets to that position, however he was unable to do that in today’s race and she raced tractably until leaving the 1000 metres but from that point she was inclined to hang-in. He further added that he hoped when PRECISE NZ improved ahead of him, she would straighten out when able to follow a helmet, but the speed went on and he was unable to get her racing up on the bit which added to the issue. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the filly would be placed on its last chance to race truly.
PRECISE NZ – Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 7 – STROUD HOMES PACE – 2270 metres
BUBBY TO BASE – Pre-race swab sampled. Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, although it was reported that the mare did have a slower than normal post-race recovery. Driver T Osmond was questioned regarding the performance and tactics adopted with the mare, in particular whether there was an option to surrender the lead and obtain cover behind ALTA WILLIAM leaving the 1800 metres when challenged by that runner. T Osmond stated that she had been instructed to attempt to lead from the inside front row draw and hold it if able to get a relatively easy time of it during the early stages. She added the mare showed good gate speed to lead without her pressuring it and raced around the first turn without being pressure so when she saw ALTA WILLIAM improving she quickened her runner’s pace to indicate to it that she intended to hold the lead. She further added that while the lead time was quick she felt her runner had run it without being pressured and she felt the challenge from ALTA WILLIAM did not last for too long so was happy to hold the lead however her runner commenced to over-race somewhat from that point and she had difficulty getting it to settle. T Osmond added that given the way the mare over-raced and the race being over the further distance today she was not too disappointed with it as she felt it only really tired over the final 150 metres. She added that given how the mare went today when attempting to lead throughout in future in similar circumstances particularly over the longer distance the mare may be better suited to racing with cover.
ALTA WILLIAM – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Hung-in under pressure upon entering the home straight and tired over the concluding stages. Driver B Jones was queried regarding the performance; he stated that he was not disappointed with its run given the circumstances. He added that he felt he was going to get a position with cover in the running line in the early stages of the event but was unable to do so when SKITTLE BOMB NZ improved to his inside and when caught three wide elected to work forward in an endeavour to get the lead off BUBBY TO BASE which he felt given the way it had been driven recently would surrender that position. He added that after being unsuccessful in obtaining the lead form that runner leaving the 1800 metres his runner commenced to over-race and he was unable to get it to settle which hampered its chances particularly over the longer distance of today’s race.
JACKS ULTIMATE FURY NZ – Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 8 – WALSH & BLAIR LAWYERS PACE – 2270 metres
CREDULOUS – Pre-race swab sampled. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn, prior to obtaining a run in the sprint lane.
MY ULTIMATE SKEETA – Pre-race swab sampled. Over-raced while leading during the middle stages of the event. Tired over the concluding stages. Trainer B McPherson was queried regarding the performance, she stated she wasn’t too disappointed with the effort given it pulled hard particularly during the second quarter of the last mile, which with the race being over the longer distance resulted in it being unable to finish the race off. Successfully claimed. Post-race swab sampled.
WHILEMENA RITA – Post-race swab sampled.
VICTORTHEINFLICTOR – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
