DASHING CHEDDER – Caught wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.

CHARLIES ACE NZ – Tired over the concluding stages.  When questioned driver R Morris explained that he did not expect that REIGN MAKER would display gate speed and found his runner having to work more than anticipated during the early stages to find the lead.  He added that the mare travelled well and relaxed however given the strong head wind CHARLIES ACE NZ may have found this detrimental.  R Morris’ explanation was noted.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

JAKCAM FLYER – Driver Z Fitzpatrick was cautioned for allowing her left foot to drop from the sulky rest in a downward motion near the 200 metres.

PETES BIG JIM – Leaving the 200 metres had to be steadied away from REIGN MAKER which hung out.

FOR THREE REASONS – Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.

BARA RILEY – Post-race swab samples were obtained.

SPITFIRE – Caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1100 metres.  Driver Z Fitzpatrick explained that rounding the first turn she expected that SHARK DANCER would be able to obtain a position in the running line however when THE BEST OF YOU and BLISSES BEST engaged sulkies that opportunity was no longer available for SHARK DANCER resulting in that runner racing three wide for longer than expected.  Miss Fitzpatrick added that as a result of SHARK DANCER racing three wide well into the back straight SPITFIRE was caught four wide and had to cover more ground than anticipated and she was unable to get the gelding to the position outside of the leader until passing the 1100 metres which in her opinion proved to be detrimental over the concluding stages.  Miss Fitzpatrick’s comments were noted.
