Prior to all clear being declared, Driver M Rue (KARINYA SOPHIE) was given the opportunity to view the race day footage to ascertain if there were grounds to lodge an objection against first past the post STAY STYLISH. After viewing the available footage, Driver M Rue (KARINYA SOPHIE) who was second past the post lodged a protest alleging interference against STAY STYLISH first past the post in the home straight on the final occasion. After takin evidence from both drivers and viewing the available race day footage it was established that when entering the home straight on the final occasion STAY STYLISH has shifted up the track and as a result KARINYA SOPHIE was checked and shifted wider, considering the nose margin and the way both runners finished the race off stewards were of the opinion that if this incident had not occurred then KARINYA SOPHIE would have finished in front of STAY STYLISH and as a result the protest was upheld and all clear declared on the judges numbers of 4 – 2 – 6 - 1.

After viewing the available race day footage Mr Reynolds driver of TAPAGANOOSH second past the post lodged a protest alleging interference against KIMCANDO first past the post in the home straight on the final occasion. After viewing the available race day footage and taking evidence from both drivers, Stewards were of the opinion that when entering the home straight on the final occasion KIMCANDO had shifted up the track and as a result TAPAGANOOSH was obliged to be checked and shift wider considering the nose margin and the way both runners finished the race, Stewards believed that had this incident not occurred TAPAGANOOSH would have finished in advance of KIMCANDO and as a result the protest was upheld and all clear was given on the judge’s numbers of 7 – 1 – 8 – 9.

Mr Green was further questioned in regard to the tactics adopted on the gelding when racing outside the leader if there was an opportunity to obtain cover when A LIL BIT OF LOVE challenged for the position outside the lead from the 1600 metres. Mr Green stated the gelding is difficult to drive and has been driven in a similar manner when racing outside the lead or leading events in the majority of its races where the gelding races best. Although having a hard run he was disappointed when the gelding was placed under pressure over the final 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ROGERVALERIO LOMBO – Passing the 600 metres raced roughly for a short distance and then when passing the 550 metres raced roughly again. Ms Turnbull stated after being tightened when approaching the 1700 metres as a result of ARTFUL PRINCE shifting down in advance of her the speed in the running line appeared to ease with her runner being inconvenienced and shifted to a three wide position where it appeared the position outside the lead would be available, she elected to work forward three wide when improving to the outside of DANCING WITH MY EX that runner resisted the challenge for the position outside the lead, Ms Turnbull believed A LIL BIT OF LOVE was travelling comfortably when racing three wide and elected to remain in that position until placing the mare under pressure over the final 400 metres where the mare responded to only be beaten by 14.8 metres after having a hard run throughout.

KARINYA HAZ – Approaching the 500 metres improved onto the back of DANCING WITH MY EX who was yielding ground and broke stride. Connections were advised the gelding would be given its last chance to race truly.
