PETES SAID SO NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts. The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
RACE 2 – BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE – 1609 metres

CLASSIC ELEGANCE NZ – Stewards questioned driver Brad Hewitt regarding the performance of the mare which gave ground over the concluding stages to finish in 10th placing beaten 21 metres. Mr Hewitt advised Stewards that he was disappointed with the performance of the mare, although noted she was heavily in season. Mr Hewitt further advised that the mare will spend a few weeks in the paddock before returning to the races. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
SHEFFIELD SPARKY NZ – Stewards questioned driver Brad Abbott with regards to him potentially scoring up in the incorrect barrier. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Abbott in addition to the negligible effect to both CLASSIC ELEGANCE NZ and OUR SAYDIE KAY Stewards determined to take no further action other than to advise Mr Abbott to take greater care in similar circumstances.

OUR ULTIMATE LEXI – Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons for OUR ULTIMATE LEXI being checked and breaking stride passing the 250 metres further checking MUSICSTAR and ULTIMATE ALL STAR causing MUSICSTAR to also break stride. After taking evidence from Cameron Hart the driver of OUR ULTIMATE LEXI and Joshua Gallagher the driver of ONE MORE REASON it was established that upon entry to the home straight OUR ULTIMATE LEXI continued to bore up the track and provide it difficult for Mr Hart to establish available running to the inside of ONE MORE REASON until approaching the 250 metres when ONE MORE REASON ducked in sharply checking OUR ULTIMATE LEXI causing that runner to break stride further checking MUSICSTAR and ULTIMATE ALL STAR.
