THE POOBAH – Pre-race blood sample.

GALVARINO – When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in the early stages, Driver T Ison explained that he intended to obtain a forward position after the start however rounding the turn shortly after, GALVARINO commenced to race ungenerously which hampered his efforts in obtaining the lead. He said he maintained a challenge for some distance in the back straight however GALVARINO hung in, raced ungenerously, and could not muster sufficient speed to cross YOGI. KARALTA COURAGE – When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver C McElhinney explained from the wide barrier she had been instructed to obtain cover in the early stages. She said that after the start she was caught wide and obliged to steady to a rearward position. She said when avoiding runners which had suffered interference to her inside entering the back straight, KARALTA COURAGE was not responsive to her urgings and failed to travel at any stage thereafter. She said she was obliged to apply constant vigour inside the 600 metres and from that point it ran to the finish moderately. She added that if the preparation were to continue and the gelding drew a favourable barrier it would be driven forward in its races. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

NEED SOME AIR – When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver C Sutherland explained that after the start she was severely inconvenienced and had to check for some distance when racing behind SAN SABA which had galloped. She said after this, she was obliged to place NEED SOME AIR under pressure to maintain its position at the rear of the field. She said in her opinion NEED SOME AIR would be better suited to racing in events designated for maiden performers only.

SAN SABA – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start and galloped for some distance. Connections were advised that prior to racing again SAN SABA must perform tractably in an official qualifying trial.

RACE 6 – THREAD EFFECTS – EMBROIDERY SERVICE PACE – 1609 metres

TIGERMAC – When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver C Formosa explained that she had been instructed to obtain a forward position, if possible, without placing the gelding under too much pressure in the early stages. She said that after the start TRALEE SNICKAS to her inside began quickly and she was easily crossed by TINNY MAHONEY on her outside and because of this she was unable to obtain a forward position. She said rounding the turn after the start she was caught wide and for this reason she elected to restrain to the rear of the field and improve her position along the marker pegs. She stated that after this the gelding failed to travel at any stage, was under constant pressure and ran to the finish moderately. She said in her opinion TIGERMAC would be better suited to racing in lower grade events.

TINNY MAHONEY – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

ROUGE BLING – Had to be checked for a considerable distance and lost ground rounding the turn leaving the home straight on the final occasion when racing behind PRINCESS REMI which weakened at that point.

PRINCESS REMI – When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver T Brown explained that after being caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to drive forward and eventually obtained the position outside the lead without cover. He said after this PRINCESS REMI travelled well for a short distance however was under pressure passing the winning post with a lap remaining and despite his constant efforts weakened noticeably. Trainer Mr D Brown said that it was his intention to ease the racing program of PRINCESS REMI with the mare being freshened and stated PRINCESS REMI would not race for 3 weeks. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Considering all the circumstances, connections were advised a warning for poor performance would be placed on PRINCESS REMI’S racing record.
