VALIENTE HANOVER NZ – Out of position at the start. A warning was issued.
PLAYA BLANCA – Held up for clear running over the final 200 metres and was not fully tested. D Murphy was questioned regarding his decision to persist with a run to the outside of BARNABY NZ and not explore potential available run to the inside of that runner approaching the 50 metres. D Murphy explained that in the initial stages of the home straight his runner was struggling to hold the back of BARNABY NZ however leaving the 200 metres his runner was travelling better and at that stage BARNABY NZ was keeping a relatively straight course therefore he was waiting for UNCLE TIGER which appeared under pressure to weaken sufficiently to allow him leverage to shift out. He added he was expecting UNCLE TIGER to weaken sooner than it did, and he was surprised a full run had become available to the inside of BARNABY NZ. He conceded on replay the run had appeared, however in his opinion, the run only opened sufficiently too close to the finish to be of any significant benefit to PLAYA BLANCA. D Murphy was advised that in the opinion of Stewards he had erred by persisting with a run to the outside where UNCLE TIGER was always covering his wheel and BARNABY NZ was drifting out and he had neglected to explore an opportunity to the inside of BARNABY NZ.
BARNABY NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines due to the gelding having its first race start since the 28th of September 2023.
RED REACTOR NZ – Post-race swab sample.
