RACE 1 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1730 metres
BABY YOUR THE ONE – Post-race swab sample.
LUCKY ZARA – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 200 metres.
WINDY HILL LUCY – Pre-race blood sample. Underwent a veterinary examination pre-race and was passed fit to start. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no significant abnormalities were found.
RACE 2 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 1730 metres
GABBYS SPORTSTAR – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
HAZZA IS WATCHING – Contacted the barrier arm and galloped out. Given the record of the gelding, HAZZA IS WATCHING will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running approaching the 50 metres.
KING BOBBIE – Pre-race blood sample. Placed into restricted room approaching the 100 metres as a result of DUFFY HOLLOW NZ hanging in under pressure.
TEARIN UP THE SAND – Post-race swab sample.
LINE ME UP BRO NZ – Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. Took no competitive part in the event. Given the record of the gelding, LINE ME UP BRO NZ will now be excluded form the mobile barrier draw.
DUFFY HOLLOW NZ – Hung in under pressure placing KING BOBBIE into restricted room for which a warning was issued.
RACE 3 – SANTA ON TRACK TONIGHT PACE – 1730 metres
SUNSET JAY JAY – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having not started for in excess of 12 months. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Pre-race blood sample.
HOPPALONGPOG – Post-race swab sample.
GIFTED BRIGADE NZ – Checked approaching the 500 metres as a result of HEZA VINCENT shifting down the track.
HEZA VINCENT – Driver John O’Shea was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that, approaching the 500 metres he has permitted HEZA VINCENT to shift down the track placing GIFTED BRIGADE NZ into restricted room.
CORZIN CHANGE NZ - – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having not started for in excess of 12 months. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 44.9 metres.
RACE 4 – BEDWELLS FEEDBARN PACE – 1730 metres
BOLZANO NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
BELL RIVER BOY – Declared a late scratching at 4.37pm acting on veterinary advice. Stood down until a clear veterinary certificate is provided and for a period of 10 days.
DEEWHY – Underwent a veterinary examination pre-race and was passed fit to start. Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.
CHELSEAS GIRL – Post-race blood sample.
GRACE SHANNON – Approaching the 500 metres became unbalanced and broke gait for which a warning was issued.
FOLLOW THE ECLIPSE – Driver Jett Turnbull was questioned in regards to the driving tactics he adopted on the gelding, after breaking shortly after the start Mr Turnbull elected to progress three wide from around the 1400 metres before being obliged to race three wide for the remainder of the event before tiring over the final 500 metres to finish in 10th position beaten 50.5 metres. Mr Turnbull explained although the gelding galloped he felt he hadn’t lost significant ground and as a result of the speed in the event being steady with a first quarter being run in 30 seconds and he elected to progress three wide, however BOLZANO NZ which was racing in the one one position came out in front of FOLLOW THE ECLIPSE and worked forward to the position outside the leader. Mr Turnbull stated when BOLZANO NZ came out in front of his gelding he attempted to restrain FOLLOW THE ECLIPSE at which point the gelding was unable to be restrained and as such was obliged to race three wide from that point forward. Stewards noted the comments of Mr Turnbull. As a result of breaking after the start, FOLLOW THE ECLIPSE will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw and in regard to the overall racing performance and manners of FOLLOW THE ECLIPSE it was issued its last chance to race truly.
RACE 5 – LLOWALONG FARMS WHERE CHAMPIONS ARE MADE PACE – 2260 metres
JEWEL HEAVEN – Trainer/Driver Bernie Hewitt was questioned in regard to the overall performance of the filly. After working to the lead JEWEL HEAVEN commenced to give ground over the concluding stages to finish in 8th position beaten 28.8 metres. Mr Hewitt explained the filly had to work in the early stages to find the lead and from that point on was afforded no real opportunity for respite as SEVEN TEE TWO was racing to its outside applying pressure. Mr Hewitt felt the combination of the pressure to the filly, the early work required to lead, and the longer distance of 2260 metres contributed to the overall performance of JEWEL HEAVEN.
TRUE LOGIC – Pre-race blood sample. Slow to begin from the mobile.
SHEVCHENKO – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 36.7 metres into 10th position.
SEVEN TEE TOO – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 6 – HORSE QUEENED FROM MUD-CAKED TO MAJESTIC 2YO PACE – 1730 metres
SATELLITE ART – Pre-race blood sample.
BETTER BE SWIFT – Post-race swab sample.
TULHURST MOUSE – After racing in the position outside the leader, gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 69.5 metres beaten into 10th position. The filly was issued its last chance to race truly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
OUR PURPLE PEARL – Inconvenienced approaching the 300 metres as a result of TULHURST MOUSE giving ground.
FEDAHL – Approaching the 1100 metres had a tendency to over race and race greenly.
RACE 7 – TOWN & COUNTRY RURAL SUPPLIES PACE – 1730 metres
LUCKY IN AMERICA – Hung out after the start for which a warning was issued. Approaching the 300 metres hung out and broke gait for which a warning was issued. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
YA RACIN BELLA – Tended to over race throughout the event when racing in the position outside the leader. Commenced to give ground passing the 400 metres before being checked at the 300 metres as a result of LUCKY IN AMERICA breaking gait.
TEDDY ZING – Checked at the 300 metres as a result of LUCKY IN AMERICA breaking gait.
RUSTY VEEJAY – Driver Phoebe Betts was questioned regarding the above market expectation of the horse. Miss Betts explained she was able to find a position racing 4 back on the marker pegs and from that point on wasn’t required to go around a horse and felt the race was run to suit RUSTY VEEJAY. Post-race swab sample.
BABLING BABLING – Pre-race blood sample.
BOOMER SHANNON – Inconvenienced approaching the 300 metres as a result of LUCKY IN AMERICA breaking gait.
RACE 8 – NUTRIEN YEARLING SALES PACE – 1730 metres
PYKAKARIKI – Post-race swab sample.
SAUCY TOOTH – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 113.7 metres into 10th position. Given the overall performance of the mare SAUCY TOOTH will be required to perform one requalifying trial.
IDEAL TAO – Inconvenienced approaching the 600 metres as a result of TULHURST PEBBLES shifting wider on the track.
THE DOME – Pre-race blood sample.
TULHURST PEBBLES – Driver Nathan Hurst was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that, approaching the 600 metres he has permitted the mare to shift wider on the track inconveniencing IDEAL TAO which was racing to its outside at that point.
RACE 9 – MOORHEAD CRANES PACE – 1730 metres
STUDLEIGH SUNRISE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Approaching the finishing line when under pressure raced greenly shifting up the track inconveniencing SHAUN SHANNON.
THEYCALLMEBRUCE – Had a tendency to hang in under pressure.
SWEETKINDOFMAGIC – Pre-race blood sample. Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Hung in and raced roughly rounding the final turn. Inconvenienced approaching the 100 metres when attempting to shift wider on the track into clear running.
SHAUN SHANNON – Tended to hang in throughout the event. Inconvenienced approaching the finishing line as a result of STUDLEIGH SUNRISE racing greenly and shifting up the track.
RACE 10 – CONGRATULATIONS HELEN O’SHEA MBD WINNER PACE – 1730 metres
NEVERTOOLATE – Held up for clear running in the home straight and not fully tested.
FAKE MINT – Broke after the start for which a warning was issued and took no competitive part in the event.
THE HANDSOME ONE – Post-race swab sample.
