RACE 1 – MEDLYNS / CASTROL MAIDEN PACE – 2040 metres

YANKEE BABE – Pre-race blood sample.

IMA TIGGY TIGER – Approaching the 1700 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. Furthermore, the filly broke stride again at the 200 metres. Considering her recent record, she will be stood down for one requalifying trial. Driver D Harris was advised of his obligations when his runner is in the incorrect gait to cease applying the whip.

MISS HALLIE – Entering the first turn the inside sulky wheel was contacted by ROCKAMA.

TEDDY ZING – Checked at the 1700 metres when trailing IMA TIGGY TIGER which broke stride. Approaching the 1000 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued.

TULHURST CHASE – Trainer/Driver N Turnbull was questioned on the gelding’s overall performance where it gave ground over the final 400 metres to finish in 8th position beaten 61.5 metres. He stated having to do more work than expected to obtain the lead in the early stages and racing over the longer distance may have proved detrimental to the overall performance. A warning was placed on the performance of the gelding.

MERRYWOOD ROSIE – Post-race swab sample.

SHES DUNNA RUNNA – Broke stride shortly after the start. The filly will now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

ROCKAMARA – Raced roughly in the early stages of the score up. The mare will be given its last chance in the mobile barrier draw in future starts. Entering the first turn when over racing improved to the inside of MISS HALLIE contacting that runner’s sulky wheel.

 

RACE 2 – KENNARDS HIRE PARKES PACE – 1660 metres

KEAYANG ALEX – Following the pre-race warm up the gelding was inspected by the on course veterinarian and deemed unsuitable to race due to a laceration to the near hind cannon bone. The gelding was declared a late scratching at 5.52pm. connections were advised the gelding would be stood down for a period of 10 days and must also submit a veterinary clearance prior to racing or trialling.

DEAD EYE TIKI – Post-race swab sample.

REASON TO LAUGH – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride at the 1400 metres. A warning was issued.

PYEKAKARIKI – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

RACE 3 – DEANS HYDRAULICS PACE – 2040 metres

WHATABOUTBRONSON – Post-race swab sample.

STUDLEIGH STARLITE – Negotiating the first turn was tightened for racing room when ALTA DOWNS shifted down when insufficiently clear.

ALTA DOWNS – Pre-race blood sample. Driver J Dean was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when entering the first turn he has shifted his runner down the track when insufficiently clear of STUDLEIGH STARLITE. Furthermore the inside sulky wheel deflated without contact a short time later and as a result the gelding was retired from the event at the 1600 metres.

 

RACE 4 – COACHMAN HOTEL PACE – 1660 metres

SHE WHO DARES – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.

BEANCOUNTER – Post-race swab sample.

GLENN FORD NZ – Pre and post-race veterinary examination as the gelding has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

CLASSIC ARC – Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 5 – TELESCOPE / HANKOOK TYRES PACE – 2040 metres

KRISTA BELLITA – In the latter stages of the score up when the mobile increased speed the mare failed to maintain position behind the mobile barrier and as a result was out of position. The mare will now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

JUDITH GWENDA NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

BOHEMIAN BRAWLER – The all clear was delayed to ascertain if the gelding had been afforded a fair start as a result of KRISTA BELLITA being out of position at the start. After taking evidence off Trainer/Driver J Morris and viewing the available footage Stewards deemed BOHEMIAN BRAWLER had been denied a fair start as a result of KRISTA BELLITA failing to maintain its position behind the mobile barrier prior to the start and as a result BOHEMIAN BRAWLER was declared a late scratching.

HALL CASH – Entering the first turn had a tendency to hang out at a similar time THE LADY DIOR hung in with HALL CASH makin contact to the sulky of THE LADY DIOR and broke stride. As no one horse or driver could solely be to blame for this incident, no further action was taken.

THE LADY DIOR – Entering the first turn had a tendency to hang down at a similar time as HALL CASH hung out and as a result contact was made to the sulky wheel of HALL CASH breaking stride. As no one horse or driver could solely be to blame for this incident, no further action was taken.

INDASKY NZ – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 6 – LANGLANDS HANLON PARKES CUP – 1660 metres

GLENEAGLE RULER – Post-race swab sample.

LEXYS ON SONG – Checked at the 1500 metres when FLASH AZARAT broke stride.

FLASH AZARAT – Approaching the 1500 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued. The gelding had a tendency to hang in throughout the event and contacted marker pegs.

ROMERO – Near the 1500 metres was checked when shifting wider to avoid FLASH AZARAT who had broke stride.

GRAYSON RED – Pre-race blood sample. Held up over the concluding 75 metres when unable to obtain clear running.

TAPAGANOOSH – Near the 1500 metres was inconvenienced when shifting to the inside of FLASH AZARAT who had broke stride.

SHEZ SWEET LOUISE NZ - Near the 1500 metres was inconvenienced when shifting to the inside of FLASH AZARAT who had broke stride.

POSH FELLA NZ – Held up for clear racing room until the final 150 metres.

 

RACE 7 – TERRY BROTHERS 3YO PACE – 2040 metres

THAT WILL DO JILL – Slow to begin when the start was affected. When approaching the 800 metres hung out locking wheels with MAKES YOU WONDER. The filly then proved difficult to drive throughout the event when hanging out considerably throughout and tiring over the final 400 metres to be beaten 114 metres. Connections were advised the filly will be required to requalify before racing.

MAKES YOU WONDER – Checked when locking wheels with THAT WILL DO at the 1800 metres.

DEAR DARLING – Pre-race blood sample.

LIMBO LOTTIE – Inconvenienced at the 800 metres when shifting wider to avoid THAT WILL DO JILL who was hanging out.

FOZZ – Driver N Turnbull was cautioned on his continuous whip use on the final occasion. Post-race swab sample.

CAITRIONA – Held up behind tiring runners between the 250 metres and 200 metres until obtaining clear running.

VIOLET JAY – Approaching the 200 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued.

 

RACE 8 – HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY GEOFF COLE PACE – 2040 metres

DUN SPRUIKIN – Tired over the final 400 metres to finish in 10th and last position beaten 108.9 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the horse will be required to requalify on one occasion.

FLIPTOP BOTTLESHOP – Checked between the 400 metres and 300 metres when trailing DUN SPRUIKIN who was yielding ground.

BORROWED TIME – Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the tactics adopted on the gelding who after racing three wide in the early stages was unable to obtain the position in the running line resulting in the gelding running three wide for most of the event. He stated it was the normal racing pattern of the gelding to be driven in a forward position and when racing three wide in the early stages attempted to obtain the position outside the lead when unable to obtain that position elected to race three wide with the gelding only yielding ground over the concluding stages.

A LIL BIT OF LOVE – Driver I Ross was questioned on the tactics adopted and if there was an opportunity to obtain cover from BORROWED TIME when challenged for the position in the early and middle stages of the event. Miss Ross stated it was the normal tactics to drive the mare outside the leader or lead. When obtaining the position outside the lead in the early stages with this in mind, was reluctant to hand up that position to BORROWED TIME but was very disappointed in the mare when placed under pressure failed to respond. Ms Ross further added that the mare would be going for a spell. Connections were advised the mare would be required to requalify on one occasion before racing.

RACE 9 – PARKES LEAGUES CLUB 2YO PACE – 1660 metres

KARINYA ROCKY – Pre-race blood sample.

FEDAHL -Post-race swab sample.

ALWAYS LATHER – Broke stride in the early stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. The gelding will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

MARINE CREATURE – At the request of connections the filly will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

 

RACE 10 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1660 metres

CERISE RAINBOW – Post-race swab sample.

SUNSET JAY JAY – Hung out shortly after the start was effected.

RIP ROCK – Inconvenienced shortly after the start as a result of SUNSET JAY JAY hanging out.

Held up for clear racing room until the final 150 metres.

STUDLEIGH SUNRISE – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.
