RACE 2 – SHOP 2390 AND DAISY WATER CARRIER PACE – 1760 metres

SPOOKY ART – Placed second, driver C McElhinney lodged a protest against SPARKLING SUE being declared the winner, alleging interference in the home straight. In dismissing the objection, it was conceded that inside the 50 metres after both runners had shifted toward each other, the wheel stays came into contact slightly and were engaged momentarily. Shortly thereafter, SPOOKY ART hung in, was difficult to drive, had to be immediately corrected by its driver and due to its waywardness, it was unable to pass SPARKILING SUE. Subsequently connections were advised that a warning for racing intractably would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

JOHNNY DEE – pre-race blood samples.

SPARKLING SUE – Post-race swab sample.

JEREMY LOU – Hampered and forced wider inside the 400 metres when racing outside ROCKNROLL RAMBO, when that runner was shifted wider in an attempt to obtain clear running. Subsequently, B Medlyn the driver of ROCKNROLL RAMBO was reprimanded under AR 163(1)(a)(iii).

RACE 3 – C L DICKINSON AUTO ELECTRICS AND COTTON GROWER SERVICE PACE – 1760 metres

LOOKAT MEE – Raced roughly for a short distance in the early stages of the score up.

LACHIES IDEAL – Hung out throughout and placed its driver at a disadvantage. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

HE SAID SHE SAID – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations. Slow to begin.

ANNIE CROCKER – pre-race blood samples. Post-race swab sample.

RACE 4 – WTCGROUP JOHN AND BERYL DEAN MEMORIAL FINAL – 1760 metres

SUPERIOR ART – Unbalanced for some distance rounding the turn after the start, then broke stride free of any external factors entering the back straight. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

WHAT AGAIN SHANNON – Had to be checked at the entrance to the back straight on the first occasion when racing outside SUPERIOR ART.

CINNAMON – post-race swab sample.

TRY CATCHING ME – When questioned in relation to the performance, particularly in the early stages, driver S Rushbrook explained that after the start TRY CATCHING ME hung out and appeared to resent the lugging device which had been applied. She said that because of this she was disadvantaged and unable to drive forward and was obliged to remain wider on the track than had been intended approaching the first turn. She said that after this when being driven forward TRY CATCHING ME was hampered and had to be shifted wider entering the back straight on the first occasion when attempting to avoid SUPERIOR ART which had galloped. She added that after this TRY CATCHING ME began to race tractably and when placed under pressure inside the 400 metres responded strongly and ran to the finish well. Notwithstanding this, she stated that she advised trainer Mr A Missen that in her opinion the mare was unsuited by the gear that it raced in today.

NIGHT NEEDS – Pre-race blood samples. Had to be eased momentarily at the entrance to the back straight on the first occasion when attempting to avoid SUPERIOR ART.

BULL SHARK – Hampered and forced slightly wider at the entrance to the back straight on the first occasion when attempting to avoid the race interruption caused by SUPERIOR ART.

RACE 5 – SANTOS FINAL – 2160 metres

OTIS RISING – Post-race swab sample.

IM BELIEBER – Galloped away when the start was affected. Connections were advised that the gelding would now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

Broke stride and galloped for some distance during the score up. Connections were advised that the gelding would now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Held up and unable to obtain clear running for a considerable distance in the early part of the home straight.

GROSESTAR – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations. Driver B Medlyn pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(2)(a), stating that when he applied the whip in the home straight, he did so in a manner the exceeded a wrist only flicking motion. B Medlyn was fined $200.
