RACE 1 – STARDUST CIRCUS @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND FROM MAY 1 PACE – 1720 metres
KEAYANG SANTIAGO – Pre-race blood sample.
PALATINO NZ – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres. Stewards questioned driver Jake Bigeni with regards to the performance of the horse which hung in and gave ground over the final 500 metres. Mr Bigeni advised Stewards that he was not too disappointed with the performance of the horse given it is better when able to lead, however was unable to do so tonight. Mr Bigeni further advised that he had attempted to restrain his runner to a position one out and one back however the runner forward of him commenced to ease the pace and he was unable to shift down the track into that position and was therefore forced to work forward. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Bigeni, Stewards determined to note his comments.
THE CID – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sample.
KEAYANG GALLIANO – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being retired from the event. Driver Seaton Grima reported to Stewards immediately upon the completion of the event that the buckle on the saddle which affixes the crupper snapped and he elected for safety reasons to withdraw the mare from the event. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Grima, Stewards determined to take no further action.
MAJOR ICON NZ – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.
RACE 2 – BINGO @ CLUB PACEWAY EVERY WEDNESDAY PACE – 2125 metres
ROCKNROLL GIG – Post-race swab sample.
OBADIAH DRAGON NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 3 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1720 metres
JETASI NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
CAPTAINS DELIGHT – Hung out upon entry to the home straight checking HIGHINDELIGHT. After considering the recent record of the filly, it was given its last chance to race truly.
LOOKIN GOOD MARGIE –
HONOLULU PRINCESS – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1400 metres.
HIGHINDELIGHT – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres. Checked upon entry to the home straight when CAPTAINS DELIGHT hung out.
EYEKNOW – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.
RACE 4 – MARKETS @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND EVERY THURSDAY PACE – 2125 metres
KIKI MEISTER – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
WINGMAN LOU – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1700 metres.
OURTREACHEROUS REIGN NZ – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1500 metres.
CAPTAIN BLOOD – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.
NOTHINGBUTWAVES – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining a clear run to the inside of the leader passing the 150 metres.
FLO RYDA NZ – Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts. The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
RACE 5 – MOTHERS DAY HIGH TEA @ CLUB PACEWAY BOOK NOW PACE – 1720 metres
DOM TORETTO NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
WE ALWAYS HAVE FAITH NZ – Examined by the veterinary surgeon following the completion of this event and it was found to be displaying symptoms of colic. Acting on recommendations of the veterinary surgeon the gelding was stood down for period of six days given the gelding had been treated.
PLAYA BLANCA – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field approaching the 1400 metres.
VAN BASTEN – Caught racing four wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres. Placed in restricted room and checked approaching the home turn when HES A MEISTER NZ was shifted wider on the track looking to obtain clear running.
HES A MEISTER NZ – Driver Cooper Griffiths was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, in that he shifted his runner wider on the track looking to obtain clear running approaching the home turn when not sufficiently clear of VAN BASTEN which was racing to its outside.
RACE 6 – MAJOR OAK THEATRE RESTAURANT PACE – 1720 meters
VENOM HANOVER – Tired over the final 600 metres of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
CHARLIES ACE NZ – Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the mare has competed in excess of 200 race starts. The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
ARTISTIC SCOTT – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1500 metres. Post-race swab sample.
SHARK DANCER – Trainer Tony Piltz was fined $50 under rule 210 for the late notification of Jorja Daskalovski as the driver of the gelding.
LOUS PROMISE – Pre-race blood sample. Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding had not competed in the previous 12 months. The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Driver Lucas Bucca dropped his left foot from the sulky rest passing the 500 metres when activating approved gear.
TIGER EUPHEME – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1500 metres.
RACE 7 – THE MANAGEMENT EDGE SUPER MAIDEN – 1720 metres
HAV FUN WITH THAT – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
TARA JIM – Checked upon entry to the first turn when TOLLSA KING broke stride.
BETTOR NOT SAID – Raced roughly approaching the 500 metres and inconvenienced TOLLSA KING.
TOLLSA KING – Broke after the start checking TARA JIM and inconveniencing BRACKEN CHIEF and GRANGE REASON. After considering the recent record of the colt, a warning was issued. Inconvenienced approaching the 500 metres when BETTOR NOT SAID raced roughly.
BRACKEN CHIEF – Inconvenienced upon entry to the first turn when TOLLSA KING broke stride causing BRACKEN CHIEF to race roughly. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a ruptured tendon on its near side fore leg. Acting on the recommendation of the veterinary surgeon it was stood down until the production of a veterinary certificate of clearance.
GRANGE REASON – Inconvenienced upon entry to the first turn as a result of TOLLSA KING breaking stride.
RACE 8 – GUINNESS PACE – 2125 metres
CARIBBEAN RUNA – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 150 metres.
HESAA LISTER – Stewards questioned driver Cameron Hart with regards to the performance of the gelding which weakened over the concluding stages to finish in seventh placing beaten eight metres. Mr Hart advised Stewards that he thought the performance of the gelding was reasonable. He further added that the pace of the event in the first half may have been a touch quick for the gelding and may have told late. Mr Hart further added that having GREY CADILLAC racing to his outside caused HESAA LISTER to over race a touch in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Hart, Stewards determined to note his comments.
GREY CADILLAC – Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding is 12 years of age an has competed in excess of 200 race starts. The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1700 metres.
HOT CRUISE CONTROL – Post-race swab sample.
STELLINA – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.
CANTPLZA MALTEEZA – Pre-race blood sample. Over raced during the early and middle stages of the event.
RACE 9 – FISHO’S RAFFLES @ CLUB PACEWAY EVERY FRIDAY 2YO PACE – 1720 metres
AGOSTINO – Broke stride free of interference soon after entering the first turn checking TUAPEKA GOLD, OUR SWEETHEART, KINGS CASTLE and BE HAPPY LARRY causing OUR SWEETHEART to break stride and TUAPEKA GOLD and BE HAPPY LARRY to race roughly. After considering the recent record of the gelding it was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.
KINGS CASTLE – Checked upon entry to the first turn when AGOSTINO broke stride.
BE HAPPY LARRY – Checked and raced roughly upon entry to the first turn when AGOSTINO broke stride.
FEROCIOUS LOVER – Pre-race blood sample.
OUR SWEETHEART – Severely checked and broke stride upon entry to the first turn when AGOSTINO broke stride.
TUAPEKA GOLD – Checked and raced roughly soon after entering the first turn when AGOSTINO broke stride. Hung in and raced roughly passing the 500 metres. Post-race swab sample.
