Mr Geary explained that the gelding raced keenly during the score up and he was assisted by the fast early tempo when being able to restrain the gelding to the tail of the field. Mr Geary explained that when racing at the tail of the field ULTIMATE BIRD NZ had over raced and as a result he elected to improve three wide however whilst improving three wide the tempo of the event increased, which made it more difficult to obtain the position outside the leader.
