Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the mare’s overall performance when leading the event gave ground over the final 300 metres to finish in 7th position beaten 10.8 metres. KARINYA MAX – Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was issued.
STUDLEIGH STARLITE – Broke stride in the early stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. Considering the mare’s recent record, she will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts. Due to the ground lost while galloping, took no competitive part in the race.
IRK MCGLURK – Post-race swab sample.
LOOKOUT NZ – Prior to all clear Trainer/Driver D McKenzie was questioned if the mare had received a fair start when trailing KARINYA MAX who had broken stride in the latter stages of the score up. After reviewing the available race day footage and the evidence provided, it was concluded that as KARINYA MAX broke stride prior to the start and was out of position LOOKOUT NZ was checked just prior to the starting point and broke stride a short time after the green light. The gelding was declared a late scratching under Rule 15(t) for being denied a fair start. All clear was given on the judge’s numbers of 6 – 5 – 2 – 8.
ROCK QUEEN – Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 5 – RANDLAB PACE – 2060 metres

BURRABADINE BULLET – Checked between the 400 metres and 300 metres because of DESIDERIO yielding ground.
EXCUSE TO CULLECT – Pre-race blood sample.
GET UP BETTY – Inconvenienced between the 200 metres and 150 metres when trailing MAMMALS BLAZE who was yielding ground.
MAMMALS BLAZE – Driver P Betts was questioned on the tactics adopted when being caught three wide in the early stages she elected to work forward and when unable to find a position in the running line was obliged to race three wide for the entire event. MS Betts stated she looked to restrain in the early stages and when it appeared the position outside the leader would be available at the 1400 metres she elected to work forward, when doing so ROCKET ME improved forward as she raced to the outside of that runner and was unable to find a position in the running line. Ms Betts elected to restrain her runner at the 1100 metres to give some respite and was happy with the performance due to the run afforded. In accepting Ms Betts evidence it was reasonable to believe the position outside the leader would be available in the early stages, when realising the position was not available the gelding was given respite although racing wide until placed under pressure at the 400 metres.
DESIDERIO – Trainer/Driver Nathan Turnbull was questioned on the gelding’s overall performance where after leading the event gave ground over the final 400 metres to finish in 10th and last position beaten 52.3 metres. He stated that he worked forward from a wide barrier to be able to obtain the lead and when doing so was able to run reasonably slow sectional times until placing the gelding under pressure at the 400 metres where he failed to respond to tire out of the event. He further stated due to constant racing which included heats and finals the previous week the gelding may have contributed to the performance. A warning was placed on his racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
ROCKET ME – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 7 – THANK YOU FORBES DIGGERS HARNESS RACING COMMITTEE PACE – 2060 metres
WILLIES DOLLAR – Over raced throughout the event. Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.

SUNSET JAY JAY – Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.
KADAR – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
SEVEN TEE TWO – Driver M Atkinson was queried on his runner shifting wider when entering the home straight on the final occasion allowing SUNSET JAY JAY to obtain clear running to his inside. He stated with his horse being driven with some vigour into the home turn he did not realise his runner had shifted up the track as far as it had and when SUNSET JAY JAY improved to his inside he was mindful shifting back down the track may cause interference to that runner and as a result was able to obtain a run to his inside. In not taking any further action Stewards were mindful of the relative inexperience of Mr Atkinson but advised that he must be more aware of his position on the track and to drive in a more competitive manner not to give other runners an advantage that is of concern to the Stewards in future.
RACE 8 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1680 metres
NO ALIBI NZ – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
CAPITALISM – Post-race swab sample.
LEXYS ON SONG – The first score up was aborted when the gelding was reluctant to turn and face the mobile. A warning was issued.

DIVINE GIRL – Pre-race blood sample. Entering the first turn tended to hang in and contacted the sulky wheel of BEANCOUNTER and raced roughly for a short distance. A warning was placed on the mare’s racing manners. Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.
