Mr Rixon advised that after electing to drive the gelding aggressively and find the lead the gelding failed to settle. Mr Rixon further advised that trainer Chris Judd mentioned post race that he felt the gelding had been disappointing for the whole of this preparation. Mr Rixon further advised in view of tonight’s performance they would look to drive the gelding more conservatively in the future. Mr Coney advised Stewards that upon entry to the home straight he was following ISLA ROCHELLE driven by Brad Hewitt and at that stage of the event he felt that it would not be wise to improve to the outside of that runner and elected to wait for an inside run however SKY BLU continued to hang out under pressure making it difficult for him to steer his runner down the track prior to ISTHISJUSTFANTASY driven by Will Rixon improving to his inside, which meant he had to wait until a point approaching the 100 metres before there was sufficient running to improve into that run.
