RACE 1 – ZOO FM PACE – 1720 metres

VINYGETSACHANCE – Held up for clear racing room until the final 150 metres.

YESNOLETSGO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from one nostril.  As such the gelding was stood down for one requalifying trial under rule 101B(1).

CAPTAIN JAZZ – Pre-race blood.  Hung in in the middle stages of the score up before breaking stride causing a false start.  The filly then broke stride shortly after the start of the second occasion.  Considering it was the filly’s first start for trainer J Gaffney CAPTAIN JAZZ will be given its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.  Driver I Ross was questioned on the filly’s overall performance who failed to run on over the final 200 metres to finish in sixth position beaten 13.9 metres.  Miss Ross stated the filly was keen in the run and being first up for some time it would benefit from the run.

RACE 2 – DHRC MEMBERS PACE – 1720 metres

ENZED FLYER – Pre-race blood.  

TULHURST ELVIS – Post-race sample.

RACE 3 – MARTY NELSON REGRIGERATION PACE – 1720 metres

MARABELLE – Checked between the 500 metres and 400 metres when trailing WAT ON EARTH who was yielding ground. 

WAT ON EARTH – Pre-race blood.  Driver W Edgerton was questioned on the overall performance of the filly who failed to run on over the final 500 metres to finish in tenth and last position beaten 40.3 metres.  He stated the filly was only a recent addition to the stable although working well leading into the event may not have settled in as anticipated.  Furthermore, he added the filly may be more suited to be driven with cover where circumstances permit in future starts.  Driver W Edgerton was issued a reprimand under rule 170(1)(a) in that when leaving the 600 metres when activating approved gear has allowed his left foot to lower from the sulky rest.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

KARLOO TOP DRAW NZ – Pre-race blood.  Driver J Reynolds could give no reasonable explanation for the gelding failing to run on over the concluding stages to finish in ninth position beaten 30.8 metres.  He further added that the gelding would benefit from the run as he is first up since 12 December 2025.

STUCKINAFENCE – Checked between the 500 metres and 400 metres when unable to obtain clear running when WAT ON EARTH was yielding ground.

KIRPHILBRI – Driver Michael Day Jnr was cautioned on his whip use in the home on the final occasion.  Post-race sample.

RACE 4 – SHIRE BAR AND GRILL PACE – 1720 metres

CALM REASON – Entering the first turn was checked and broke stride being placed over marker pegs when KAY JAY MIKI was shifted down the track because of MISS ARDLETHAN shifting in.

KAY JAY MIKI – Entering the first turn was checked when placed in restricted racing room when MISS ARDLETHAN shifted down the track when insufficiently clear. 

MISS ARDLETHAN – Driver T Pilon pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when entering the first turn has directed his runner down the track when insufficiently clear of KAY JAY MIKI who was placed in restricted room and checked and in turn shifted down the track tightening CALM REASON who broke stride.  In determining penalty Stewards placed emphasis on Mr Pilon’s record where he has had only one drive since his recent suspension also his guilty plea.  Mr Pilon’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 28 days.  This suspension is due to commence at midnight Friday, 12 June 2026.

CHAMPAGNE WALSH – Pre-race blood.  Leaving the 1200 metres broke stride.  A warning was issued. 

BIZZIE LIZZIE – When negotiating the first turn was checked and raced roughly when trailing CALM REASON who had broken stride.  Post-race sample.

RACE 5 – GALLAGHER PACE – 2120 metres

DRIVE TO THE BEACH – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Post-race sample.

JESSEJAMES SHANNON – Pre-race blood.

BUTTER CUP – Driver J Reynolds could give no reasonable explanation for the mare’s poor performance when failing to run on over the final 300 metres to finish in seventh position beaten 33 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 6 – COFFEE PHOTOGRAPHY PACE – 1720 metres

LOOKOUT NZ – Galloped out when the start was affected.  A warning was issued.  Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres. 

SURFIN AT MIDNIGHT – Post-race sample.

ROCK QUEEN – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested. 

WHATABOUT BRONSON – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.

PEAKSART – Pre-race blood.  Inconvenienced shortly after the start when LOOKOUT NZ had broken stride.

CLARENDEN VINTAGE – Over raced throughout the event. 

STUDLEIGH STARLITE – At the request of connections the mare will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

RACE 7 – FURLIFE VETS 3YO PACE – 1720 metres

CLASSYNFABULOUS – Pre-race blood.  Leaving the 600 metres hung out and raced roughly for a short distance.

STAY LUCKY – Post-race sample.

MY CONFIDANT – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has had not raced since 19 March 2025.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

VINIES JOLT – Inconvenienced at the 600 metres when CLASSYNFABULOUS raced roughly.

MISTER DEPENDABLE – Driver J Bryant was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(b)(i) when approaching the 500 metres when shifting wider has forced WINDY HILL ABBEY to cover more ground than necessary for a short distance. 

WINDY HILL ABBEY – Approaching the 500 metres was inconvenienced when forced to a four wide position for a short distance.

RACE 8 – ORANA WOOL AND SCRAP METAL PACE – 1720 metres

GLOBAL GODDESS – When negotiating the first turn broke stride.  Considering the mare’s recent record it will be required to requalify on one occasion. 

JETS REASON – Pre-race blood.  Post-race sample.

NEEDS A COZIE – Driver M Rue was questioned on his tactics in the early and middle stages when holding the position outside the leader where there was an opportunity to take cover before his runner tired over the final 300 metres to finish in seventh position beaten 24.3 metres.  He stated trainer G Lew advised the filly has tended to race rough in her gear in recent starts, He added when racing keenly in the early stages the filly travelled comfortably and when challenged for a short distance by REASON TO KISS he elected to hold that position.  He further added in hindsight it may have been detrimental to the filly’s overall performance and would be better suited to racing with cover in future. Stewards determined the tactics not to be unreasonable in the circumstances and as a result no further action was taken.

KOSCIUSZKO – Slow to muster speed in the score up and as a result was out of position at the start.  The mare will be given its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.  Leaving the 300 metres hung in contacting a number of marker pegs, when being corrected back to the racing surface has contacted the sulky wheel of AARON MINT and as a result was checked.  Considering the mare’s racing manners, she will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

FOR A DREAM – When negotiating the first turn was inconvenienced when shifting wider to avoid GLOBAL GODDESS who had broke stride. 

AARON MINT – Leaving the 300 metres was checked when the sulky wheel was contacted by KOSCIUSZKO, driver P Wood was unbalanced in the sulky lowering his left foot from the sulky rest for some distance.

RACE 9 – TAB PACE – 1720 metres

WINDY HILL THUNDER – Inconvenienced between the 300 and 200 metres when trailing DONTRATTLEHISCAGE who was yielding ground.

GRANT FOR LEXY – When negotiating the first turn broke stride.  A warning was issu

OCEAN KING – Pre-race blood.  Broke stride in the middle stages of the score up.  Hung out shortly after the start inconveniencing BODELETOS.  A warning was issued.

BODELETOS – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when OCEAN KING shifted out.  Post-race sample.
