RACE 1 – ASPIRE TRAFFIC OFFENDER COURSE NSWSOA FIRST PAST THE POST BONUS TROTTERS MOBILE – 2240M

General

Driver Glenn McElhinney advised Stewards that the correct gear required for MY HIGH PEAK, which was engaged in Race 1, was not available. Mr McElhinney explained that the gelding requires a number of specific gear items and, in the circumstances, MY HIGH PEAK was scratched by order of Stewards.

 

ONE PINEVALE HILL – Pre-race sample obtained. Post-race sample obtained.

TRIUMPH STRIDE NZ – Galloped out. A warning was issued.

BERTINELLI – The mare was held up rounding the final turn and for the entirety of the home straight. Driver Zara Fitzpatrick was questioned regarding the driving tactics adopted, in particular her decision to shift wider upon entering the home straight on the final occasion rather than pursue a run to the inside of DONNIE GAL. Ms Fitzpatrick explained that initially she did not consider there to be sufficient room to obtain a run to the inside of DONNIE GAL and therefore elected to look for clear running wider on the track. Ms Fitzpatrick added that when a run subsequently became available to the inside of DONNIE GAL, she had already committed to shifting wider and, given the mare’s racing manners, she was reluctant to then attempt to shift back to the inside as she believed BERTINELLI may have raced roughly. Stewards noted Ms Fitzpatrick’s explanation.

 

RACE 2 – THE POSTHOUSE MOTEL GOULBURN PACE – 1710M

HAYCHARLI – Broke after the start. A warning was issued. Post-race sample obtained.

WICKED LEGEND – Pre-race sample obtained.

IM NO STRANGER – Broke in the score-up and will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 3 – HOLLINGWORTH CRANE HIRE SERVICE PACE – 1710M

ALWAYS BE BRENDAN – Post-race sample obtained.

LETTYS REASON – Pre-race sample obtained.

PETES BIG JIM – Driver Dean Cernovskis pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that he applied the whip to PETES BIG JIM with more than a wrist-only flicking motion. Mr Cernovskis was fined $200.

ACHY BREAKY ARK – Held up for clear running rounding the final turn and throughout the home straight and, as a result, was not fully tested.

TROUBLE IN HEAVEN – Back in the mobile barrier draw.

PRINCE OF PEACE – Raced three wide during the middle stages before obtaining the position outside the leader. Driver Vaughan Duncan was questioned regarding the tactics adopted, in particular the tempo he maintained after obtaining the position outside the leader, which contributed to the third quarter being recorded in 27.9 seconds. Mr Duncan explained that when improving three wide he considered that he may have been able to catch the leader off guard and obtain the lead. Mr Duncan acknowledged that after obtaining the position outside the leader he had continued forward at a quicker tempo than he had intended and, in hindsight, had overcommitted in his attempt to obtain the lead. Mr Duncan further stated that PRINCE OF PEACE had commenced to over-race during this portion of the event. Stewards noted Mr Duncan’s comments.

 

 

RACE 4 – ABERNETHY GORE SOLICITORS PACE – 1710M

SATELLITE SIMA – Pre-race sample obtained.

LADY ALLEGRA – Held up for clear running rounding the final turn and for the entirety of the home straight and, as a result, was not fully tested.

MICKEY BE NIMBLE – Caught wide during the early stages before working forward to obtain the position outside the leader.

FREASON – Post-race sample obtained.

SEE ME NO MORE – Held up for clear running rounding the final turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

 

RACE 5 – DONOVAN BUILDING GROUP PACE – 1710M

SEASIDE DRIVE – Post-race sample obtained.

IDEAL ANDY – Held up for clear running rounding the final turn and for the entirety of the home straight and, as a result, was not fully tested.

WHO IS ALAN – Caught wide during the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.

FAKISTRA – Pre-race sample obtained.

 

RACE 6 – DAYS INDUSTRIAL 3YO PACE – 1710M

IM STARVING – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 57.7 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Justin Reynolds was questioned regarding the performance of IM STARVING. Mr Reynolds explained that, in his opinion, the mare had been adversely affected by the two false starts caused by runners drawn to her outside and had become worked up prior to the event. Mr Reynolds further stated that IM STARVING was racing up in grade and indicated that, moving forward, the mare may be better suited racing on smaller tracks. Stewards noted Mr Reynolds’ comments.

WIT WICKEE – Broke during the score-up, causing a false start. A warning was issued.

IM NO TROUBLE – Broke during the score-up, causing a false start. The gelding was placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw. Post-race sample obtained.

ROCKNREASON – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 110.9 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame. ROCKNREASON was stood down until a veterinary clearance is provided and must complete one satisfactory trial.

THE EYE IN THE SKY – Pre-race sample obtained.

 

RACE 7 – GOULBURN HAY SUPPLIES PACE – 2240M

JILLIBY TOMCAT – Approaching the 300 metres raced roughly.

SHE THE DEVIL – Inside the final 200 metres was checked and raced roughly when contact was made with FOX TROT as that runner shifted out.

HIGHINDELIGHT – Post-race sample obtained.

WAITANDSEE – Pre-race sample obtained.

FOX TROT – Inside the final 200 metres shifted out, resulting in contact with SHE THE DEVIL, which was checked and raced roughly. Drivers Zara Fitzpatrick (FOX TROT) and Chloe Formosa (SHE THE DEVIL) were questioned regarding the incident. Ms Fitzpatrick explained that the racing manners of FOX TROT contributed to the incident, stating that the gelding had overreacted when shifting out. After considering the evidence of both drivers and reviewing the available footage, Stewards determined that no further action would be taken. In reaching this determination, Stewards were mindful of the racing manners of FOX TROT and were unable to be satisfied that SHE THE DEVIL had established a run to the outside of FOX TROT prior to that runner shifting out.

 

RACE 8 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1710M

RAGING SEA – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 47.9 metres. A warning was issued. Driver Scott Hewitt was questioned regarding the performance of RAGING SEA. Mr Hewitt expressed disappointment with the performance of the gelding but was unable to provide any explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 9 – GOULBURN SOLDIERS CLUB PACE – 1710M

General

Prior to the running of Race 9, trainer-driver Bailey McDonough advised Stewards that he had mistaken the starting time of the race and, as a result would be unable to arrive on course with OHOKA COBRA in sufficient time to compete. In the circumstances, OHOKA COBRA was declared a late scratching. Mr McDonough was reprimanded under Rule 41(1) for failing to present OHOKA COBRA on course by the prescribed time. OHOKA COBRA was stood down from racing for a period of six days.
