RACE 1 – MULTIQUIP AGGREGATES TROTTERS CAROUSEL PRELUDE – 2300 metres

LAST CLANSMAN – Trainer K Morris was fined $50 under rule 210 for failing to declare J Coney as the driver by the prescribed time.

CALL ME JACK – Driver M Purcell pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that passing the 800 metres he has permitted CALL ME JACK to shift out when not clear of CHIEF RUNNINGCLOUD causing that runner that runner to contact the sulky of CALL ME JACK and be checked and pace roughly and lose its rightful at that stage.  Driver M Purcell had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of seven days to commence midnight 8 September 2026.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered driver M Purcell’s plea, record in relation to the rule and circumstances of the incident.

AFFAIRE DE COVER – Pre & post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

CLASSIC CHIP – A pre-race veterinary examination was conducted which found no obvious abnormalities and the colt was permitted to take its place in the field.

CENT FOR PLEASURE – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.  Driver B McDonough was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that passing the 100 metres he has permitted CENT FOR PLEASURE to shift up the track whilst not being clear of FEARFUL resulting in that runner being placed in restricted room momentarily.  In not taking more severe action, Stewards were mindful of the minimal interference at that point to FEARFUL.  Stewards questioned driver B McDonough in relation to his decision leaving the 500 metres to allow CENT FOR PLEASURE to shift back down the track towards the marker peg position.  Mr McDonough explained that rounding the final turn the filly contacted its knee and lost ground to the field and as a result he elected to try to save ground instead of coming wider which would not have assisted his filly at that point.  Mr McDonough explained that when coming back down the track finding a marker pegs position, CENT FOR PLEASURE travelled well and was unable to secure clear running over the concluding stages.
